Hair on the floor the smell of hairspray in the air, and a pair of shears in my hand. When people think of dream jobs they usually think big, a rock star, model, or DJ. But for me becoming a salon owner is the ultimate dream job. I want to be able to go into work and have a different client every day. My love for cosmetology began around the time I went into my first salon appointment. It wasn’t that I loved to cut hair or that I loved styling my own hair. It was the stylist I met, the men and women who made creativity their career. These professionals that had their hair perfectly done, smiles in their face and clothes that matched. These goddesses of beauty who gave my frizzy hair something to brag about. There’s something special about hairstylist and barbers that makes others just awe in their presence. After my initial reason to become a hairstylist dissolved, I found that cutting hair became my art. A salon owner has the responsibility of making customers and employees happy. Being a hairstylist also comes with perks; for example, at the end of January hairstylist from around the world meet for an international beauty convention. In this elite convention beauty professionals get introduced to the newest trends and have opportunities to meet some of the most recognized stylists of the world. There is more to the beauty profession than meets the eye. Connecting with individuals and making them feel pampered and spoiled is a satisfying feeling. Along with the creativity that comes with the job the people that are in the hair business are some of the nicest people I have met, and I couldn’t imagine a better profession to be a part of.
